Leaf rubbing is a wonderful classic activity for children. It teaches them about patterns, rubbings and printing while perfecting their fine motor skills.
I love this activity myself; it is so mesmerising to see the pattern appear on the paper. I think I made about 10 copies. The best part about it all in my opinion is going outside to look for the leaves.
Leaf rubbing
Ingredients
- A variety of leaves
- Paper
- Crayons
Instructions
Put the leaf bottom side up on a hard surface.
Putt a paper on top of the leaf. Show your child how to hold the top paper in place (you can also tape it down).
Rub the crayon gently over the leaf until a pattern appears (you can use the tip or peel of the paper and turn the crayon onto the side).
Repeat the process by removing the leaf and replace it with another one, and use another colour of crayon if you wish.
