Halloween is around the corner and here is a fab threading activity to practice fine motor skills. This is a wonderful activity to teach children about spiders.
How many legs do they have?
Why do they spin a web?
Why are people generally scared of them?
Have you read the book, I Don’t Want to Go to Bed! (Little Princess) by Tony Ross? The little princess can’t fall asleep as there is a spider in her room. She says she doesn’t like the spider as it has hairy legs. Then her mum the Queen says, daddy’s got hairy legs and he is nice. I always thought that was funny.
Cut out the center of the plate. Paint the out part black. Using a hole puncher, punch holes all around the center. Thread the yarn through all the holes (You can tape end of the yarn to make it easier to thread through the holes). This is how you make the spider. Cut a small circle out of the paper, then cut out legs and glue them onto the circle. Then glue the pom pom on top of the circle and two small googly eyes on the pom pom. Pape plate spider web
