Yarn wrapped Christmas star

I’m slowly getting into the Christmas spirit even though it’s only begining of December. I heard the first Christmas song at the train-station yesterday. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!

This activity teaches your child to use both hands at the same time, often referred to as bilateral integration. It´s a skill they need for riding a bike, pushing and pulling activities, tying shoelaces and cutting with scissors (and lots of other things. The list is long).

I saw this activity on Pinterest last week. I though it just looked so beautiful. It´s a great ornament for your Christmas tree and or a wonderful present for a the grandparents.

Yarn wrapped Christmas star

Ingredients

  • Cardstock paper or cardboard
  • Colorful yarn (I used green, red and white)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • A star-shaped cookie cutter (or a star template)
  • Pencil

Instructions

1

Trace a star shape onto the cardstock paper, then cut it out.

2

Tape the end of the yarn on the back of the star, and then start wrapping it around in whatever direction you fancy (change the color frequently). You can cover the star, or leave empty spots and both are equally as beautiful.

3

You can punch a hole anywhere on the star so that you can thread yarn trough to hand it up.

Did you see the post about this wonderful Christmas sensory bottle?
