Edible finger painting

I wanted to introduce my little friend to finger painting but I think he is still a little too young for real paints, as I know he will try to eat them.  So I though about edible finger-paint.

I decided to try out making paint with yogurt and food coloring. The yogurt made the paint very shiny and smooth and easily spreadable. The paint is super easy to make, as there is no cooking involved! Only scooping and mixing.

My little friend had so much fun in the bath!

Edible finger painting

Ingredients

  • Yogurt
  • Food colouring
  • Plastic bowls or tubs

Instructions

1

Scoop the yogurt into bowls, then add a drop of food colouring and mix thoroughly.

2

You can lay out a plastic table cloth on the floor, and then place the paint bowls and paper in front of your child. If this the first time painting you might have to demonstrate how to do it. Or you can put your baby in the bath and let him or her paint the tub. It's certainly easier to clean up after! Your little ones may even want to help you! Just remember to put a bathtub mat down, as the bath tube might get slippery.

Notes

I made 4 bowls, with four colours and I used 500g of yogurt.

I love stickering with kids! It’s great for fine motor skills.
