Watercolour resist art (using crayons)

This watercolour resist art has your child draw with crayons on a piece of paper and then paint over it with watercolours. The crayons resist the paint and the pattern or drawing will pop up and it gives their picture a special effect that I like very much.  Nearly as much as printing!

You can also be a bit sly and draw or write with a white crayon on to their paper before they start painting just to see their surprise! I will do that someday. I would probably write their name or “I love you”. Such fun!

You can use normal paper and crayons but I find that using watercolour paper and wax crayons gives the art a more dramatic effect. And I’m all about drama!
