Hopscotch

I used to love this game as a child. I drew the template on a dirt road with a stick (Yes, I’m that old! LOL), but nowadays we use chalk. It’s so much prettier and fun.

Hopscotch

Ingredients

  • Chalk
  • Fun and smiley kid (s)
  • One flat stone or a small bean bag

Instructions

1

Draw a hoop scotch template on a pavement, sidewalk or concrete porch using the chalk (see picture).

2

HOW TO PLAY THE GAME

3

Throw the stone into the first square to start the game. The stone has to land in the square without touching the lines.

4

Jump over the first square, and then hop on one foot from one square to the next until you reach the side-by-side squares. There each foot should land on the right and left square. Continue hopping on one foot until the end. Turn around and hop in reverse order back, stopping to collect the stone on the way. If your child steps on a line and misses a square or losses a balance the turn ends.

5

Then you throw the stone to the next square (no.2) and repeat the jumping through the squares.
