String pull painting

I think I did 6 of those string pull paintings in a row. They are simply addictive. I couldn’t wait to see the pattern each time.

Getting the string covered in the paint is messy. But it’s so worth it! Have wipes on hand or wait until they are finished and wash your hands together in the sink.

String pull painting

Ingredients

  • Paper
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • String or yarn
  • Paper plate or tray

Instructions

1

Fold the piece of paper in half.

2

Cut out a piece of string and then cover it with paint. You can do this by holding on both sides of the string and dip it in, by putting the string into the paint and using your fingers or paintbrush to cover. I have tried all methods and they are all good and messy. You have been warned. LOL.

3

Put the string in loops and curls around one side of the paper leaving a little string hanging outside at the bottom. Then close the paper.

4

Put your hand on top of the paper and pull the string.

5

Open up the paper and see the most amazing pattern has emerged.

This activity reminds me a little bit of my printed butterfly activity. I love seeing the pattern at the end.
