Treasure basket

I’ve made these baskets for every child that I have looked after. They are beautiful and lots of fun for my little friends.

Treasure baskets are sturdy natural baskets filled with everyday (usually non plastic) objects like feathers, whisk, wooden peg, wooden brush, buttons on a string, rolling pin, wooden spoons, sponge, sieve, wooden egg, nail brush, ribbons, hair rollers, wooden scoops, shaving brush, wooden lemon squeezer,  wooden curtain rings, honey dipper, wooden egg pastry brush and large beads on string and a crochet doily.

By collecting such wide variety of objects your child will fully explore their five senses; touch, sound, sight, smell and taste. They use their senses to explore the object by sucking and putting the items into their mouth and tongue, and by handling them with their fingers. By doing that they learn about the world around them but more specifically about weight, size, shape, texture, sound and smell.

Our role as the adults is to sit back and allow your child to explore the objects on their own and at their own pace. Stay close and observe, and don’t interfere with their play unless you are invited. Your child is concentrating on developing their confidence and understanding the world around them.
