This paper plate yarn heart is a great activity to introduce your children to sewing (and threading). They learn to hold a plastic needle and while threading through the big holes on the plate they improve their fine motor skills.
I also think the plate is so cute and it would be a wonderful present for someone they love and adore.
Draw a heart onto the middle of the paper plate. Cut out the heart with the scissors. Punch holes around the heart. Choose a colour of yarn to start threading and tape the end onto the back of the plate. Then thread the needle and start threading the yarn through the holes. When the yarn finishes tie another colour onto the original one. When your child has finished threading, (and keep in mind the holes can be threaded with yarn more than once) tape the end to the back of the plate. Paper plate yarn heart
