DIY busy board

I have had everything ready for my busy board for over a year. It was just missing the wood part at the back because I couldn’t find anything I liked. It was not until I saw a busy board from my friend Katie-Rose on Instagram that I found what I was looking for. She has used IKEA shelves and I decided to copy her. So, she really takes all the credit for my busy board! Shout out!

I did struggle a little with the screws and the screwdriver. As you see most of the things are not straight. And maybe somethings should have been lined up differently.  I’m going to mention this to my little friend and tell him that this is a wonky donkey busy board. He will find that very funny. Regardless, he will learn so much from playing with the busy board and I’m so proud of myself for finally finishing it. However, if I make this busy board again I will ask someone with excellent screwdriver skills to help me out.

DIY busy board

Ingredients

  • Ikea Hejne shelf x2
  • Chain
  • Hinges
  • Locks (different kinds)
  • Door stoppers
  • Zipper
  • Plastic belt buckle
  • Wheels
  • Lock and key
  • Light switch
  • Socket
  • Led light
  • Lots and lots of screws

Instructions

1

Screw on all the bits and bobs onto the wood. An electric screwdriver is not essential, but I sincerely hope you have one.

2

You need hinges to attach the two pieces of wood together and chain on either side, so it does not slide down (see pictures).
