This hoop tree is definitely in the spirit of Montessori activities and games. It’s fun, rustic and homemade. There may be a lot of exploring of the stand and rings before they start threading them onto the tree branches. They may even to start with just take the hoops off. There is no right or wrong. On or off, it’s a great little game. With older kids you can introduce counting by asking them to put one hoop on one branch and then two hoops on the next one etc. Or put two hoops on each branch, or three hoops. Make it fun and then they will not even notice that they are expanding their knowledge and learning.
