This fabric collage activity is inspired by the memory game I made this week. I had some fabric left over and I though what a wonderful idea for a blog about an activity I’ve done with my friends in the past.
I really like this activity as it is an open-ended activity and it gives my friends lots of freedom to express them selves with fabrics and patterns. There is no right or wrong way, and they can glue as much or as little fabric as they want. Even overlap the fabric or multi layer.
It also is a continuation on practicing using a glue bottle. Look at the post teaching children how to glue if you have not read it before. It is very helpful. Even though I say so myself. (Blowing my own trumpet much? Toot toot!!!).

Ingredients
- An assortment of different types of fabric
- Construction paper or cardboard
- Glue bottle
- Scissors
Instructions
Cut the fabric into small freeform shapes (your child can help with that).
I cut the cardboard into the letter M, which is the first letter in one of my friend’s name. This is a great way to introduce letters to your child. You can also leave the cardboard fair and square.
The idea is that your child puts dots of glue onto the cardboard and then put the fabric on top. Or turn the fabric over and put dots of glue on top and then turn it over and put it on the cardboard. The motto is, one dot is a lot.
Leave to dry. You can trim the edges after if you wish.
Notes
They may or may not fill the whole cardboard. It´s their choice as a freedom of expression!
